We catch up with freeskiing star Jon Olsson on his bid to land a spot on the Swedish Alpine ski team. He now knows how to play to his strengths and where he's going wrong, but putting it right is not proving easy...
But I’m learning. It seems that when the courses get easier and have a lower tempo, I lean in and ruin my entry to the turn. If it’s a more difficult and quicker course, it seems that the turns just come more naturally to me!
Not to self: Figure out how to ski easier hills!
On the plus side, I got to test a bunch of equipment and came to the conclusion that I think I will ski more on the "13" ski. It feels much more stable and I think I can ski well on it when I get used to it!
I tried if for the first time in the second run and I was pretty happy with it until some serious crankers at the bottom put me in trouble and I missed the second to last gate. (I know it's my fault: I am an idiot for not checking out the course well enough…)
But it was still great practice. It sucks super bad to ski like an idiot, but I think sometimes you have to go through that to learn. Luckily my fellow TNT member Leif sucked pretty bad too – so I was in good company!
One more race before we head back to Monaco. I can’t wait to sleep in the same bed for more than two nights in a row. I really need a good break so I can come back recharged and get back up to full speed!
See you in MC!
