Red Bull Music Academy has been travelling the world for 12 years and in 2011 the destination is Tokyo. The application phase starts on February 2.
The Red Bull Music Academy is a platform for those who shape our musical future, a music workshop that has been traveling the world since 1998. Setting up its HQ for two fortnight-long 'terms' in a different musical metropolis each year, it pulls together pioneers of days-gone-by and musical legends of tomorrow from all aspects of rhythm and sound.
For two weeks, 60 selected participants - producers, vocalists, DJs, instrumentalists and musical mavericks from all around the globe - come together to check gear, chat on tunes, play in clubs, get a rare glimpse into local musical tastes, swap musical visions in the studio and discover closely-guarded secrets of mixing desk magic - straight from those who started revolutions in sound. They're the people the Academy looks up to, and they're looking to you for a fresh perspective in turn.

When the Red Bull Music Academy opens its gates for the 12th time, its culocation in Tokyo will see fresh talent from more than 30 countries come together to exchange knowledge and forge brand new sounds with some of the most influential names in music, while after dark they perform at groundbreaking concerts in Tokyo's iconic venues.
Interested producers, vocalists, and instrumentalists, are invited to apply for the Red Bull Music Academy between February 2 – April 4, 2011. The application form will be available to download from www.redbullmusicacademy.com between those dates. Successful applicants will take part in one of two fortnight-long terms between October 23 and November 25, 2011.
An Origami Application Info Booklet is available as a tool for the local activation phase during the application time. The booklet contains all essential info about the Academy, the host city of Tokyo, how to apply, RBMA Radio and our 2011 festival stages all around the globe.
