FIS World Cup skiing champion Lindsey Vonn had a frightening accident in Giant Slalom training at Hinterreit yesterday.
Vonn had only just begun her practice run in the Austrian resort when she appeared to lose control, spinning off balance.
Vonn slid down the course for some moments and briefly lay motionless as onlookers rushed to assist the 26-year-old American.
“I had a pretty scary crash today training GS in Hinterreit, Austria,” Vonn posted on lindseyvonn.com and her Facebook page. “I hit my head pretty hard and had to go to the hospital to get a CT scan. Luckily the scan showed no major injuries!
“I will be very sore tomorrow, but should be fine in a few days. I will have to see how I feel and play it by ear for the upcoming races this weekend in Zwiesel, Germany.”
