Manchester City ended Red Bull Salzburg’s slim hopes of Europa League group qualification at the City of Manchester Stadium last night.
In difficult snowy conditions in the north-west of England, Huub Stevens' side enjoyed their fair share of possession, but the cutting edge of the cash-rich English club’s top players tipped the balance. A brace from former Internazionale star Mario Balotelli was followed by a superb individual effort by Adam Johnson towards the end of the match.
The 3–0 result sees Manchester City qualify from Europa League Group A to the round of 32 with a game to spare, while Salzburg’s 2010-11 interest will end with the final group match against Lech Poznan on December 16.
