Robby Naish took up the fledgling new sport of windsurfing in 1974 at the age of 11. Two years later he won his first overall World Championship title.
He won successive World Championships from 1977 to 1979 as an amateur and after the sport became professional he continued to dominate it for the next two decades.
In the nineties Naish became heavily involved in the emerging sport of kitesurfing and In 1998 he won the kiteboarding slalom world title. He is recognised as the godfather of windsurfing and remains a dominant force in all things to do with boards and wind.
